Welcome to our website
Pure Brass is a vibrant, young and well established brass quintet who look to bring top class music making to people of all ages throughout Scotland and further afield.
Formed in 2006, the group has quickly become a prominent ensemble within the Scottish chamber music scene. Pure Brass is part of the very prestigious Live Music Now Scheme and has recently been accepted onto the Enterprise Music Scotland Residency Project. A successful year in competitions has seen Pure Brass win the RSAMD Governors Chamber Music Prize, which led to being broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland, the Mary D Adams Prize for Chamber Music and the Norman Cooper Chamber Music Competition at the Aberdeen International Festival. Future plans include a new commission from EMS and tours to Iceland and the Bahamas.
Pure Brass has performed in solo recitals throughout Scotland and further abroad. Recent engagements have seen them perform a world premiere of ‘Polish Dances’ by Marek Pasieczny at the “Sounds New” contemporary music festival in Canterbury, recitals at the Aberdeen International and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, and also a very successful lunchtime recital in the RSAMD, which has led to a return concert this season.
Education is central to the work of Pure Brass, and the group’s infectious enthusiasm creates a fun learning experience for children of all ages. The group has led many educational workshops of its own, which have proven to be extremely rewarding to both the schools and the group. As part of Live Music Now! Pure Brass has recently returned from a successful tour of Northern Ireland and is already planning a return visit.
